In saying this, we acknowledge unreservedly the finest works on the Fifth: Flying Buccaneers by Steve Birdsall (an overall synopsis of the Fifth's history), and Warpath Across the Pacific & Revenge of the Red Raiders by author Larry Hickey (unit histories of the 345th and 22nd Bombardment Groups).

All our source material is taken from primary sources, including diaries, microfilm records, interviews, field trips, and official documents. Most of our photos are from private collections, and are published for the first time.
