Prior to leaflet drops by FELO units, it helped to know exactly where respective Japanese units were located.

This photo of a RAAF Reconnaissance Mosquito was taken at Labuan in July 1945. These aircraft could fly fast and high, and as such were used primarily for high altitude photographic missions.

The Australian War Memorial has a Mosquito like this on display in their Pacific aviation section.
