Another unusual crash account brought to you by Aerothentic
  A-20G-25-DO In the Mood Serial # 43-9669

672nd Bombardment Squadron

417th Bombardment Group

Fifth Air Force

On Black Sunday, 16th April 1944, 2/Lt Arthur Gresens landed In the Mood at Saidor during the height of confusion when dozens of returning aircraft tried to cram into the small field.

The bomber drove through burning wreckage of a mid-runway crash and came to rest against this embankment. None of the crew was injured but In the Mood was a write-off.

This photo was taken mid-morning the following day, and In the Mood became one of 37 lost on Black Sunday - Aerothentic has published a detailed book on the day's misadventures - click here to go to our Products Section for details.
