‘The Daylight Ltd’cracked up at Mareeba, Queensland, after Japanese fighters had shot her up over Milne Bay on 26th August 1942.

The early bombing missions by Fifth Air Forces Fortresses were mainly conducted from Australia, and staged through Port Moresby.
