90th Attack Squadron

3rd Attack Group

Fifth Air Force

Captain Charles Howe as Commander of the 90th Bombardment Squadron, brings his assigned B-25D Here's Howe across Rabaul Harbor, leaving destruction behind. The date is unclear, but it would have been in either October or November 1943.

Here's Howe had quite a combat pedigree. It had participated in the Battle of the Bismarck Sea - at five minutes to nine in the morning of 3rd March 1943 when then Squadron Commander Ed Larner received news that the squadron were to rendezvous over Cape Ward Hunt for the eagerly-anticipated attack. Shouting "Cape Ward Hunt let's go", Larner strode out purposefully to his Mitchell. Behind Larner as the Mitchells assembled were Chatter Box and 'Jock' Henebry in Notre Dame de Victoire. Other Mitchells included Miss Priority (Moore), Miss SNAFU (Reed), Here's Howe (Howe), Mortimer (McCoun), Margaret (Sbisa), The Early Bird and Iraquois
