321st Bombardment Sqaudron 90th Bombardment Group Fifth Air Force |
Although not easily discernible, the rearmost Liberator has the name Seafood Mama painted in huge white letters over the forward nose area. Seafood Mama and unnamed friend are returning along New Britain's eastern coast after a Rabaul raid. Unfortunately Rabaul is where ultimately Seafood Mama was lost, on 12th July 1943. Fighters took her out of the sky and she fell into the waters off the Gazelle Peninsula. Note that the rear gun position on the forward Liberator is fully open.
