7th Fighter Squadron 49th Fighter Group Based at Batchelor Field, Australia's Northern Territory from March to September 1942 Taken on 11th September 1942, 2/Lt Joseph H. King's P-40E-1 Mary Lucille is seen being refueled at Schwimmer Drome after the three-day delivery flight from Batchelor Field. The Warhawks were led to New Guinea by a B-17E Fortress, staging via Horn Island. Notice the curious New Guinea locals in their 'lap-laps'.
