Papuan Panic was one of the first Airacobras to enter the SWPA, and is seen here at 7-MIle Field outside Port Moresby in May/June 1942.

On 23rd July 1942 it went missing during fierce combat with A6M2 Zeros of the Tainan Kokutai, then based at Lae. It has never been found. The pilot flying that day was 2/LT Garth B. Cottam. The pilot in this photo is unidentified, although it is possible that it is Cottam.
