Hell from Heaven is not all she seems. Assigned to 'Pappy'
W. Turner, with O. R. Goodin as his crew-chief, Turner kept the cowling
from one of his previous P-38J-15s, and had Goodin fit it to his new
ship, seen here.
Note the two Japanese kill markings on the side, with room for one
more. The nose-art was distinctive if nothing else.
The identity of the 'first' Hell From Heaven remains a mystery. All
that Turner can recall is that it was lost by another pilot.
(with thanks to 'Pappy Turner')
