Hollywood fans will be interested to know that In WW2 Carole Landis also toured forward SWPA bases.
On her major tour, in August 1944, she accompanied comedian Bob Hope. It was rare that enchanting stars of such beauty and fame made the forward bases, and not surprisingly her shows were always packed out. What is little-known about Landis is that life proved too much to bear at a young age. She committed suicide in 1948 after an unrequited love affair with English actor Rex Harrison.
Landis is seen here with an unidentified soldier. The aircraft is the background is an L-5 assigned to the 25th Liaison Squadron named Miss Beverly II.
