In December 2003 Michael Claringbould, Fifth Air Force expert, and Justin Taylan of pacificghosts.com fame, visited the remote site of Swamp Ghost in Papua New Guinea - the world's last surviving and intact B-17E. As you can see, the aircraft is in remarkable shape. This bomber was truly the Fifth Air Force's last survivor, until its salvage in 2006. For a full account of its loss, please click here. Balus Productions has produced a DVD about the aircraft. Please go to www.pacificghosts.com for details. |
